Frequently Asked Questions

What is Go Nanny and how does it work?

Go Nanny is an on-demand professional child sitting service providing families throughout the Greater Lakes Region with all of their childcare needs. We have an entire team of professional sitters that we send to your location, based upon your needs. Whether it is one-time, full-time, part-time, or a weekend away we’re here for you.

How does Go Nanny recruit their providers?

We recruit only loving and highly qualified candidates. Our providers are diverse in their experiences, education, background, and age. We focus on recruiting college students who are studying to be educators and whom are currently teachers. This ensures that we are hiring quality providers that have a child’s best interest in mind. Additionally, Go Nanny only recruits providers that we would trust with our own children. Trust your family to our experience. Go Nanny takes the stress out of your search and we save you time, money, and effort by doing the work for you!

What is your screening process?

Go Nanny feels that if someone will be caring for your children at your residence (condo, hotel, or vacation spot) then it is imperative that they be screened. The candidates we represent are screened with a combination of the following: Criminal Background Checks, Driving Record Checks, Previous Employment References Check, Character Reference Check, Education Verification, and Social Security Verification. Additionally, they complete an extensive 7-page application, complete a telephone interview, and a personal interview.

Are you an insured agency?

Yes! Go Nanny is insured and bonded.

Can you really provide a babysitter with 24 hours notice?

Go Nanny will do the very best they can to acquire a provider for your last minute needs. We fill last minute needs everyday and work very hard to fulfill every request! However, to guarantee that we fill your request, please be sure to submit your date/time 7 days in advance.

I have requested numerous nights/days on my vacation. Is it possible to have the same provider for all the times I have requested?

Absolutely! It is Go Nanny’s goal to have the same provider sit for all of the times you request. It is much easier for you and your family. If there are adjustments or add-ons to your schedule, we will do our best to obtain the same provider. If you are requesting a specific provider, we encourage you to book them in advance (prior to 24 hours). You may always cancel a reservation with 24 hours notice (booking fee applies), so if you would like a recurring date with a sitter we recommend this option to ensure consistency.

Is it customary to give the provider gratuity?

Gratuity is not included and is optional. Tips vary widely so a tip based on the quality of service you felt you and your family received is usually a good way to decide.

How do I pay for Go Nanny services?

We make the process very simple for you. You pay Go Nanny through PAY PAL. Providers are employees of Go Nanny and we pay them directly. No more last minute trips to the ATM on your way home!

Are Go Nanny providers CPR and First Aid certified?

YES! All providers who work for Go Nanny are certified in both CPR and First Aid. Providers must re-new certifications on a yearly basis and copies are kept on file.

What will the Go Nanny providers do with my child/children during the hours that they are together?

Go Nanny providers will bring age appropriate games, puzzles, arts & crafts, and activities to entertain your little ones while you are away. They may also take the children on walks or stroller rides. Providers are allowed to take children to the pool/beach, depending on their age.

Are your providers willing to drive my children around to activities or do extra work?

Providers will not take children into their own vehicles and do not provide transportation (**exceptions apply to registered families using Go Nanny on a regular basis). This additional service does require a signed release/waiver form by the parent. As far as doing extra household chores, our provider’s primary focus is childcare and spending time with your children. This ensures that your children will have a great time! All providers will leave your house picked up from any activities conducted during the time of service. If you are interested in a “Mother’s Helper” please contact our office

What is the difference between a “Provider” and a “Mother’s Helper”?

A provider will come to your location and care for your child(ren) while you are away from the home. A Mother’s Helper will come to your location and assist you with watching the children in your home and assist you and your children on errands, appointments, or shopping trips, etc. Mother’s Helpers may also do simple household chores for you like unloading the dishwasher, folding laundry, and meal preparation.

What is Go Nanny ‘s discipline policy?

We at Go Nanny are committed to a nonviolent policy as set forth by the state of NH. Our sitters will never discipline by using methods that are severe, humiliating, or frightening and will never withhold food, toilet privileges, rest, or any form of physical punishment. We strongly believe in positive reinforcement and logical discussion to achieve good behavior of children. We communicate to children the importance of respect for themselves, others, and property.
